One of the Come-See-Me Festival’s signature events will mark a major milestone in 2017. The Come-See-Me Festival Road Races are celebrating their 40th anniversary! Over the years, this event has constantly evolved to stay fresh and exciting. For example, did you know that the 1987 race included a biathlon and a 1000 meter race? This spirit of change and innovation has made these races among the most popular in our region. We’re happy to announce that we’re continuing to make the Come-See-Me Road Races even better for this year.
We’re Back in Town
We’ve appreciated all of the feedback from the last several years about the race location. Many of our runners missed having the road races in town, so we’re bringing them back! We think you’ll enjoy the new race routes, which will begin and end at Winthrop Coliseum. You’ll enjoy one of Rock Hill’s most beautiful residential areas as you compete on our USATF-certified courses.
This year’s races, which are hosted by Winthrop Athletics and sponsored by Krystal Myers Teague DMD-Austin & Teague Dental, Schiller & Hamilton Law Firm, Walk2Campus Properties, and Whitesell Investigative Services, Inc., will be held on Saturday, April 22. The Come-See-Me Festival races are also a part of the Carolinas HealthCare System’s employee race program.
Three Race Options
You’ll have three options this year:
- 1 Mile Fun Run: This race is free to all participants with no registration required. The run starts at 7:45 am and will go around Winthrop Lake. Strollers will be allowed and children 12 and under will receive a medal.
- 5K: The 5K starts at 8:30am and travels through neighborhoods on paved streets. Sign up by March 25 for only $25. Registration fees increase to $30 after March 25.
- 10K: The 10K race will begin at 8:10am. We’re excited to offer this new race for 2017 and hope it will provide a challenge for our participants. Sign up by March 25 for only $45. Registration fees increase to $50 after March 25.
We hope to expand our lineup to include the half marathon again in the very near future.
